Happy Hour With a Table That's Elegant and Manly

Fall always feels like such a manly season.  I don't know if it's the colors or hunting season or the fabrics that come out of storage to keep you warm.  But to me, Fall is manly.  So to honor that feeling, my table this week is manly while being elegant.

The tablecloth from Pottery Barn sets the tone for our table!

Mom's creel basket it the perfect centerpiece for this manly table. It has nice height and texture and the color is great.

And the plates by Bareuther Waldsassen are so beautiful! Look at those fish!!  Nature makes the prettiest things.

How about some river rocks? I can see the fish on our plates swimming amongst these rocks as they lay on the bottom of a clear stream.

Since it's Happy Hour, I decided that these tumblers that celebrate my maiden name need a masculine drink.  No pink umbrellas here!!

We need a nice gin and tonic tonight!  It's clean, uncomplicated and straightforward - like every good man!

Gin and tonic should be served cold, so load up that glass with ice.

2 1/2 fl. oz (75 ml) gin
4 fl oz (120 ml) tonic water
1 lime wedge - for garnish

Pour the gin and tonic water into an ice-filled glass.  Stir briefly.  Add the lime wedge.

Cheers!

  8. That really IS manly. I feel like scratching myself in an inappropriate place in public or belching! :-) Seriously...very nicely done. The creel basket is a great touch! Sorry I couldn't join you for Happy Hour Wednesday. It's been a difficult week around here, so no entertaining. I only got in on Tablescape Thursday this week because we had a little dinner party last weekend. Saved by the impromptu dinner party! Hope to join HH Wednesday next week. Until then!

  9. You are right about Fall feeling "manly" in some ways and you've put together a great tablescape celebrating that! Terrific fish plates and centerpiece! The river rock are wonderful "accessories"! I like Gin but I needed it sweetened up a bit and "tonic" doesn't do it for me!
