Happy Hour #9 Wassail Makes Christmas Merry!

It's Happy Hour at Henrietta's House!  Tonight we are making some wassail.  The smell of this wonderfully warm drink alone makes your insides warm.  The cloves, cinnamon, cider and citrus smell so Christmas-y.  It fills your whole house with Christmas aroma.

Our poinsettia mugs are perfect to use tonight!  With the below zero temps we've been having this past week, a toasty warm drink in a mug sitting by the fire is the best way to spend an evening.

Speaking of our poinsettia china, our table is set for Christmas dinner.  Basic black chargers set off the Lenox "Kelly" plates.  We saw those before with the Fitz and Floyd pheasant table.

The water glasses were picked up by mom at an auction this past weekend for a dollar apiece.  What a steal!!  Along with those glasses, she also nabbed the silverware in a nifty wood box.

The mini-tree is the perfect centerpiece.  Evergreen, berries and pinecones really reflect our wassail drink tonight.  Wassail is woodsy and warm.

To make our wonderful Wassail here is the recipe:

Ingredients
1 1/2 cups white sugar
8 whole cloves
3 cups water
3 cinnamon sticks
1 1/2 cups orange juice
1 cup lemon juice
1 gallon apple juice
Garnish with orange slices and whole cranberries

Directions
In a saucepan, combine the sugar, cloves, water, and cinnamon. Bring to a boil, and continue to boil for 10 minutes. Remove from heat, cover, and allow to cool for 1 hour.

Stir in the orange juice, lemon juice, and apple juice. Return to the heat, and boil for 10 to 15 minutes. Or put in a crockpot and garnish with the orange slices and whole cranberries. Remove cloves and cinnamon sticks before serving.

Cheers!!  Be sure to link your recipes, barware or happy hour ideas below.
